Ashtanga Yoga in Brook Green
Ashtanga Yoga is an old and traditional sequence, which was developed by Sri T. Krisnhamaharya and his disciple, Pattabhi Jois. Today the grandson of Pattabhi Jois, Sharath, teaches Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore, India.
In Ashtanga Yoga, the breath leads the flow of movements and with practice, a student becomes physically stronger and more flexible. Ashtanga Yoga also helps practioners find a more steady and peaceful mind both on and off the mat.
Whilst Ashtanga Yoga is regarded as a physically demanding practice, I teach this sequence to all levels, and where appropriate, provide modifications. The intention with the Ashtanga practice is to help the student develop his or her own practice, which they can then practice on their own.
